About this deal

Admittedly we’ve kinda fallen off the potty-training wagon over the last several weeks, so while we all have the capability and know-how, we all are, erm, lacking the motivation. The power struggle is striped then and if diapers aren’t a option {other than bed/naps} then THEY will figure it out. It has been a wonderful addition to our family and I just had to let other parents know that their children could really benefit form this potty seat.

Here are the supplies I used: a set of lidded plastic containers and a beach towel from the homewares section, stickers from the craft section, and water cars from the toy department. DH loves that DD is obsessed with Cars so he tells her when she starts potty training she can have Lightning McQueen Big Girl Underpants. If he pooped ten times in a row in the potty he would get a long time coveted toy, and even that didn’t work. Every time it comes up people tell us to just put him in underwear and let him feel how uncomfortable it is when he pees himself. I have twin girls who are 17 months old, and while I have no intention of starting them any time soon, I might lose my mind potty-training twins. He was toilet trained for three months and wears cotton underwear but for some reason no idea why he has regressed.

Eventually we got past the plateau and he now wears Lightning McQueen or Spiderman underpants (courtesy of Penneys) and produces ‘petrol pee and poop’ for Lightning Mc Queen and his pals. When DS was potty training we went to pick out underwear and he was pretty excited about the Disney multi Pack with Cars, Toy Stroy, etc.

Mum-of-one Steph tells us, “We use this as our ‘car potty’ – great for long car journeys – and it’s so lightweight and handy.

I am a fellow parent of a kid with special needs, and yes, Ruby, my awesome 7 year-old daughter, also kicks butt. Which told me that he was practicing holding it and then when he couldn’t hold it anymore he was going where ever he was. That book, sadly, did not survive being brought everywhere for long as Daddy drove off leaving it on top of the car one day.

Let me know when you guys master it, and what, if anything, you did to help him get there – I’d love to hear about it!

Presto--a personalized toilet seat, you could even put MAX on the thing if you had a mind to do that. He has made a willful decision that he would rather stay in pull-ups and make Mommy and Daddy change him like his baby brother than use the potty. I’m trying to potty train almost 3 year old boy/girl twins right now, and they keep swapping who wants to pee on the floor and who actually wants to use the potty. It's been helpful to read everyone's comments here and I will be happy to share how it went for us after we give it a go. What I need to do is dedicate an entire weekend to the task, and do timed potty-going and let him run around half naked.Helping your child learn as they go along, according to what they are capable of at each stage of development, gives them a gentle learning process towards stopping using nappies.
