These (now) go on the same flat area of a lens, but with the 24-120mm the logo is at the horizontal position and the L-Fn button is just above that, while on the 100-400mm lens, for example, the L-Fn2 button is at the horizontal position and the Nikon S logo is above it.

With a lightweight build, advanced optics, and a broad zoom range, the NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S makes a superb walkaround travel lens. S, which is still the lens to get if you prefer a brighter lens for events and other low-light situations. With a mostly plastic construction, the Z 24-120mm f/4 S feels fairly solid in your hand, and it commendably has a metal mount. is ideal for lower light situations and when the best IQ is required, and it excels in these situation.
