About this deal

Stable reception: Bluetooth radios with DAB+ technology offer stable quality, even if reception is weak, while FM radios often come with static noise. A DAB+ radio alarm looks like a normal radio alarm but it offers the option to receive DAB+ radio stations instead of FM stations, bringing you a wider choice of programmes in addition to better sound quality. They are best known for designing and manufacturing digital audio broadcasting (DAB) and DAB+ radios. But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system.

Thanks to DAB radio, which is digital-terrestrial, radio programmes can be received without the static noise caused by radio waves. In 2019 Pure launched the long-awaited Braun Audio range of design speakers, referencing the historic LE1 speakers designed by Dieter Rams . If you drive a newer car, it can require a lot of additional parts to make these new radios fit in your car, adding lots of extra hidden costs. This allows you to scan through stations and select them using the car’s infotainment system, even via the steering wheel remote controls if fitted. Luckily you can change these and peel off the logo'ed sticker without damaging or marking the radio. However, they are complicated to install, and need to be put in by a trained professional, which increases the cost. The answer is a separate DAB adaptor that connects to your car’s existing stereo system, bringing the full range of DAB functions without having to crack open your dashboard. However, that being said, DAB is not necessarily worth it for small regional stations that only serve limited areas that are mostly not covered by DAB. The control unit is battery-powered, avoiding excess messy wires, but you’ll need spare batteries to hand. So unless you’re driving a Caterham Seven or a similar track-ready car it’ll simply be a case of plugging the adapter into the 12V socket or USB port.

Plug-in-and-play devices get the DAB radio signal through their antennas and convert the signal to FM, which your existing car radio can then pick up (or it can get the signal via your car's 3. The latest additions are the compact Evoke Spot, the versatile Evoke Play and the all-in-one music system Evoke Home. Even though DAB/DAB+ radios work without long antennae, their signal is much more stable and easier to receive. Now industry-standard, DAB offers clearer quality to get the best in-car entertainment options possible.
