About this deal

The huge baffles of the Q-Core require an absolute ton of air, and we previously found ourselves dreading the head rush that was sure to hit us while inflating the previous version. The 40D ripstop fabric of the Q-Core SL is very durable and stood up to a multitude of surfaces including rough rock. If you’re seeking a lightweight and comfortable addition to your kit with insulation for three-season use, make sure to check out the Big Agnes insulated, Q-Core SLX.

Overall I am happy with the pad so far, and assuming it will last like my other pad, I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade or get a new pad. We learned about the closure pretty early on, and decided we would just do half of the trail in spring and then come back in fall to finish the rest. There is alternating I-beam baffle construction, which reduces weight while creating a thick cushion and a stable base for comfortable sleeping. Not only was it the most comfortable back country sleeping experience I've ever had, it helped keep me warm on a low 30 degree weekend. I also got the “deluxe” version because it was on sale, but it’s still not clear with the difference is in feel, so I imagine the standard insulated Q-Core would be fine. When camping with others it can be so loud it disrupts their sleep (but so does my snoring—so if they can deal with that, Q Core sqeaks are nothing! The problem we ran into was that the Q-Core Deluxe pillow kind of fit into those pockets, but as the pad stopped below the head of the bag and you have a 2. We will be using these pillows again and they will be coming on our 10 day trip in May to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

While it wasn't the absolute most comfortable pad we tested, if we were testing purely for weight to comfort ratio this might be the grand champ. My hips sink through the pad to just barely touch the ground below which causes that area to loose all insulating power. Do yourself a favor and try to find the Big Agnes Pumphouse pump or other compatible pump to inflate it. The Q-Core Deluxe Sleeping Pad brings increased comfort without weighing us down or sacrificing durability for our missions into the wilderness.

First, the offset quilted pattern replaces standard parallel I-beam construction, preventing you from sliding on the pad. It makes very little noise when you move around on it at night (in comparison to the NeoAir which sounds like you are flopping around on a pile of plastic bags). inches pad, you need something else under the bag head to give better support (such as an extra pillow, jacket, bag).

Warm and highly packable insulation on top and bottom make this air pad lighter on your pack than most in its class. There’s no official R-value for the SLX, but Big Agnes claims it will work down to 32 °F, and we think that’s about right. This allows the Q-Core SLX to be inflated, stuffed, re-inflated, and re-stuffed ad nauseam without risk of fatiguing or ripping the surface. Big Agnes Q-Core insulated Deluxe is a comfy sleeping pad for cold nights offering comfort on the top and warmth for 3+ seasons of adventures inside. The Big Agnes Kings Canyon UL Quilt is a versatile and extremely packable, lightweight synthetic quilt that can be put to a multitude of uses. This pad packs down small and is fairly lightweight, while also having a great R-value, soft, quiet fabric, and a comfortable thickness for an incredibly deluxe sleeping experienced. When properly inflated using the Pumphouse, I have found that it takes around 11-13 pumps to fully inflate it.
