Smith, Sally Bedell; Sally Bedell (1981). Up the Tube: Prime-Time TV and the Silverman Years. Viking Press. p.85. ISBN 978-0-6705-1385-7. it is not until the almshouses are reached that the people begin to realize what a blessing this institution is to the State. It is at such time that the closets give up their skeletons and society for a brief moment again becomes conscious of the existance of individuals long supposed to be dead." However, I wanted to read this book because of my vested interest in mental illness and how far we've come over the years in understanding and treating it. I appreciated that the author devoted very little of her writing to stories of Rhoda Derry speaking from the grave and tugging on people's pantlegs. Gertrude Baniszewski lived in Indianapolis with her seven children. Since she had a tiny income, Baniszewski took in children for the Summer to earn extra money. In 1965, she agreed to board sixteen years old Sylvia Likens and her sister Jenny, who was a year younger. They were the children of two circus workers who were about to go on tour operating a concession stand. Thanks to the forward thinking of Dr George Zeller, the Director of the Illinois Hospital of the Incurable, later known as The Peoria State Hospital, who took Rhoda from her captivity, she lived her last two years of life being well cared for, a favorite of the nursing staff, until she died in 1906 from tuberculosis. Rhoda was buried on the grounds of the Peoria State Hospital.

For whatever reason, the relationship with Charles Phenix ended. Also, for whatever reason, Rhoda Derry went mad. Treatment worse than the diseaseDespite the constant abuse, Rhoda never gave up hope. She knew that if she could survive long enough, someone would eventually come to rescue her. She also knew that she had to keep her spirits up and never let the criminals break her.

Zurawik, David (2003). The Jews of Primetime. Brandeis University Press/University Press of New England. p.181. ISBN 978-1-5846-5234-2. It's currently open to the public as an inn that hosts murder mystery dinner theaters and tours (among other things), and visitors of the mansion and nearby brewery complex have reported feelings of being watched, and sometimes seeing ghostly figures in period clothing." This story it's incredibly scary and it's just unbelievable if you think you can match it with one of the most popular children's game. Lastly, I am hoping that if my German researcher can find family church records we will have other familiar first names in older generations like Balser, Peter, Jacob, etc. to help pull it all together. Hope some of my thinking makes sense -- it is so easy to "dream wonderful dreams" just because we want them to be true -- but then again, I never thought we would have this wonderful magazine article on record and brought to our attention. Miracles do happen. Until the next blog. I promise not to wait so long before I write again. As always, feel free to leave comments on any of my blogs. On the date of the accident, October 31, 2006, Catsouras and her folks had lunch together at the family home in Ladera Ranch. After lunch, her dad, Christos Catsouras, left for work while her mom stayed at home. Around 10 minutes after the fact, her mom heard an entryway close alongside strides out the secondary passage. As she strolled toward the carport, she had the capacity to see her little girl turning around out of the garage in her dad's Porsche 911 Carrera — a vehicle she was not permitted to drive.[1] Her mom called her dad, who started driving around attempting to discover his daughter. While doing as such, he called 9-1-1 for help, clearly minutes before the mishap, and was put on hold. When he was taken off hold, the dispatcher educated him of the mishap. Interested in State hospitals, because I had great aunts and uncles that were in Phila Byberry Hospital. Eventually, they all got "better" and when released to the family they lived full and happy lives. I wanted to read about Dr. Zeller and how he saved Rhoda Derry. According to that tale — repeated elsewhere — the teenage Derry had fallen in love with a young Charles Phenix, their relationship heading toward marriage. But his mother, for reasons unclear, objected and put a curse on Derry. Jumping from height can be a very effective method of suicide (providing it is from sufficient height), it does not account for a particularly high percentage of suicides in either the US or the UK. Having said that, in Honk Kong it accounted for over half of all suicides in 20061, so easy access to tall buildings seems to impact the propensity to use this method.
