About this deal

I like Michael McIntyre's ability to make people laugh without necessarily assassinating people's character or swearing all over the place and he pulls it off in this book too. In the days before people know what to expect, when people know whether they want to seek you out or avoid you, performing can be a mixed bag.

It was actually one of the parts I liked the most, where he discussed that period where he hadn't found his audience yet, or perhaps they hadn't found him. I am biased because I absolutely love Michael, I laughed out loud many times reading this and honestly I was shocked at how much he struggled over the years with money and his rise to the top.Michael is plagued by self doubt and despite becoming famous didn't have the success that you'd expect. But it seems you can't really have all that 'success' without it tainting your perspective making it bent on revenge, fear or selfish ambition.

His love for his family comes through clearly as well as the friendships and support he has received from the teams he works with.

He deserves every bit of success that he worked so hard for and it was fab to hear more of his story! Regardless, it’s a very well written memoir; funny, of course, but also very poignant in places too. Although I find Michael McIntyre rather a visual comedian with his constant leaping around the stage this book still succeeded in giving me the impression he was talking directly to me. Laugh along with Michael McIntyre as he lifts the curtain on his life in his long-awaited autobiography. In fact Michael if the comedy and light entertainment world ever becomes too much for you, trust me when i say, you can act boy!

We've seen his beginnings and his struggles to become noticed and now we get the story of his rise to fame and fortune. I’m sure if you’re a fan you’d enjoy this but in my opinion like his stand up and TV shows I feel it’s overrated and overhyped.

And although the verb tenses point to this news coming at some point, it’s still so sad for the person themselves, their family, friends, and for Michael when you get to that point.

Becoming a success in any profession, let alone something as difficult as showbiz, is full of highs and a lot of lows, and he doesn’t ignore these. Anyway, “A Funny Life” is great – there are mixture of emotions; plenty of humour and jokes, but with further insights into Michael’s life.

In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there.
