It continually kept me intriguing and the way it kept pushing the characters to new levels all the time was really engaging to read about. Not until you reach the last page and it is too late, far too late to put the book down and pretend you never encountered it.
In the process, she awakens an ancient power that could lead her to victory--or to an unimaginable doom. But she still did kill a lot of big characters *oww* and she was still VERY cruel (again I think this is shows how Sabaa Tahir is so great at writing villains). This story is so dear to my heart, I put off starting this final chapter until I knew I could devote myself to the story. And instead of hating my heart, I began to marvel at its strength, at the fact that it thuds on insistently.After the events of the Fourth Trial; Martial soldiers hunt Elias and Laia as they flee the city of Serra.
So, when Darin died, I felt so sad for Laia as it felt like such a loss after everything she had already gone through.I’d have loved to have seen a few of her thoughts concerning Elias too considering the change of attitude towards him.
