Bref, le plus important dans tout cela, c'est qu'aucun ne se doute qu'ils sont infiltrés, trop concentrer à fuir puis à retourner rapidement sur Terra pour demander conseil auprès de l'Empereur.

It is a point of distinction amongst the Primarchs that Corax constantly has lesser beings tell him he's wrong or not very good, and that he mostly just takes it. Along with a small force of Legio Custodes and the Mechanicum's Magos Biologis Corax and his honour guard enter "the Labyrinth," a complex underground maze created by the Emperor to protect the Primarch Project. Raven's Flight' bleibt dennoch lohnenswert da dadurch die Beziehungen zwischen Kommander Branne und Praefector Valerius in klarerem Licht erscheinen. His Warhammer 40,000 repertoire further includes the Path of the Eldar series, the Horus Heresy audio dramas Raven's Flight and Honour to the Dead, and a multiplicity of short stories. As might be expected, the Traitor Legions are present, as are the Imperial Fists, which is something I always like to see and although the story focuses on Corax's struggles to rebuild his legion, a lot of the book is spent in flashbacks, which focus on the backstory of Corax.

While I found the chapters dealing with the recovery a little tedious, I cannot dispute their necessity to the story, as the intricately designed lock it presented made the defenses seem plausible and functional. The exception to this is the involvement of the Alpha Legion and their sabotage of the project, which is interesting but as with the main story just piqued my desire for information on what happens to the Raven Guard and the Alpha Legion after the events of this book. He personally is hurt and angry from these betrayals, causing Corax’s emotions and decisions to be unclear and irrational. The book's matter of fact descriptions lacked any zest and failed to deliver the emotional doom of Isstvan V or the coming apocalypse of civil war. Instead of solving squabbles between two of his most favored and longest-serving sons, he figures he could just replace them if they carry on, but their strife isn't a priority.

Gav is published by Angry Robot books where you can find his epic swords-and-sandals fantasy saga gathered in the omnibus collection entitled Empire of the Blood. After a tense and slow few weeks trying to escape the Isstvan system in Branne's stealthed ship Avenger Corax splits up the survivors, sending two ships back to Deliverance while continuing with one ship to Terra. Corax announces that Valerius's forces will hold the fortress against traitor counter-attack with the aid of other loyalist forces who are on their way before leading the Raven Guard into their next attack. All in all though, a solid entry into the series and one that shows of a part of the Heresy that needed a bit more light shining on it.The second part of the novel describes the effort to reconstitute the Raven Guard, and the opposition to this by the hidden operatives of the Alpha Legion. It's a greater effort for the reader to find the flaws in the scheme than to have to cobble it together.

Enfin, tout ce qui concerne les habitudes militaires de l'Alpha Legion et je dois dire que tout est vraiment bien mené de A à Z, ce sont vraiment les maîtres dans ce genre-là. And the primarchs and legionaries of Alpha Legion are fascinating antagonists - surprising, mysterious, and even at times sympathetic. I also want to praise it for the way Gav Thorpe managed to plant the seeds of suspicion within the reader. L'histoire commence assez tragiquement, avec le massacre sur Istvaan V où Corax tente de s'échapper avec son vaisseau, malgré que son vaisseau soit détecté vers la fin de la fuite par Angron.Although there were some slower parts, deliverance lost still managed to keep its story going until the end. The novel also features a reappearance of the Cabal (Book 7), and of other well-known characters from previous books in the series. Corus, nicknamed "Corax" which means "saviour", was found on a prison planet where he was adopted by the prisoners and raised not in hatred and fear, but in understanding that his people are being oppressed and he is the only man who can actually do something about it.
