Midori are closely related to TRAVELER'S COMPANY, and the lovely quality paper is part of what made their notebook cover system so famous. Some are printed with frequently used items such as “IDEA” or “DIARY”, while others are left blank so that you can add your own headings. The type with lines has a thick line at the center so that you can divide each page in half or divide a two-page spread into quarters. The notebook has a string that can be used as a bookmark, but is also a playful touch - each type of MD notebook has it's own colour (the grid has white).The lines are printed in subtle hues (pale gray for ruled and light blue for grid) that won’t distract you when writing. The reason given for this, which makes perfect practical sense, is so that the book opens easier and lays flatter.

With original double-edge binding and a thick mount, the MD Paper Pad is steady enough to take notes easily even while standing. This does give it a very pleasant texture to it, enough to feel the paper without being distracting (or catching on an Extra Fine nib! I believe it was this blog post that started widespread panic in the fountain pen community world wide! The paper is fountain pen friendly and has a slight texture to it, for a satisfying writing experience.The flaps have convenient, water-activated gum applied so you won’t have to fuss with glue to seal the envelopes.
