About this deal

One problem I have had recently was for the first time I decided to remove the lower burr for cleaning. For example, you get two sizes of portafilter cradle, one for the standard 58mm portafilter size, and one for the Sage 54mm portafilters that you'll find on the Sage Bambino and Bambino Plus for example. If you leave your beans either next to your machine in an open container, or in the hopper (because the hopper gives no more protection from the environment than an open container would, from what I can gather), you may find that you dial in, and come back to the machine an hour or so later in the day to find you're no longer dialed in, the shot runs either a few seconds faster or a few seconds slower, leaving you scratching your head. It’s a great grinder for manual brew methods, it’s capable for espresso but more of an all-rounder than a specialist. A big selling point of the Sage Smart Grinder Pro is the LCD screen and how intuitive and easy it is to operate and adjust.

Our espresso machines are designed to use the right dose of freshly ground beans, ensure precise temperature control, optimal water pressure and create true microfoam milk essential for latte art. We take a look at the two Sage Grinders that are being produced at the moment and help you select which one is right for you. I would recommend only leaving enough coffee in the hopper for two or three days worth of espresso and keeping the rest in an airtight coffee container. Bought mine yesterday and straight away espresso recommendation does not produce a créma at all for any value coarser than 3. If you are looking at purchasing your first coffee grinder or you have started to take coffee a little more seriously and you’re in the market for an upgrade then read on.As you get finer with the grind for espresso, you'll find it does clump up a bit, and I found that this happened more with age, possibly as the burrs started to wear a bit. A shim is just a wedge under a burr, for example with the Gaggia MD15 it's possible to grind for espresso by removing the outer burr from the burr holder (removing the two screws) and putting a thick piece of paper or a thin piece of card under, as the “shim”, and then putting it back on. So if you don't need the espresso capability, it's fair to say that purely talking about grinding performance, you're probably not going to experience a great deal of difference in the cup from your extra spend.

Thanks for this I have just bought it, as all the benefits you described are things which irritate me for years on the the grinder we have. The reason for this is that the environment, whether it's in your kitchen or in your office, isn't the best place for coffee beans – and if the beans are in your hopper, they're in your environment. You'll see a default grind time come up on the display, you can simply adjust this with the grind amount knob, to get your desired dose.

Neighbourhood Coffee trust Sage to deliver the very best, with a wide range of coffee machines and accessories you can use to replicate your favourite barista-made brews at home, with no stress. The Smart Grinder pro lets you grind directly into the portafilter, airtight container or paper filter. You will also find that making the coffee grind finer will decrease the weight and volume of your coffee grounds. All that happens when you do that, is that you're re-calibrating your grinder so that the “zero” meaning the finest you can possibly take the grinder, is further up the range.
